Both disease-free F0 and endemic F∗ equilibria are calculated. Their stability is also described using the stability theorem of non-integer order. The threshold parameterR0 demonstrates an important behavior in the stability of a considerable model. ForR0 < 1, the disease-free equilibrium (DFE) F0 is an attractor. ForR0 > 1, F0 is not stable, the endemic equilibrium (EE) F∗ exists, and it is an attractor. Numerical examples of the proposed model are also proven to study the behavior of the system.

GIS-aided planning of insecticide spraying to control dengue transmission

BACKGROUND The purpose of this paper is to integrate a multi-objective integer programming formulation and geographic information system (GIS) into dynamically planning the insecticide spraying area for preventing the transmission of dengue fever. METHODS The optimal spraying area to combat dengue infections is calculated by the multi-objective integer programming model using the dengue epide...

Fractional derivatives in Dengue epidemics

We introduce the use of fractional calculus, i.e., the use of integrals and derivatives of non-integer (arbitrary) order, in epidemiology. The proposed approach is illustrated with an outbreak of dengue disease, which is motivated by the first dengue epidemic ever recorded in the Cape Verde islands off the coast of west Africa, in 2009. Numerical simulations show that in some cases the fraction...

A Non-radial Approach for Setting Integer-valued Targets in Data Envelopment Analysis

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has been widely studied in the literature since its inception with Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes work in 1978. The methodology behind the classical DEA method is to determine how much improvements in the outputs (inputs) dimensions is necessary in order to render them efficient. One of the underlying assumptions of this methodology is that the units consume and prod...

Analysis of a dengue disease transmission model with clinical diagnosis in Thailand

An S-I-R epidemiological model with clinical diagnosis of dengue transmission, Dengue Fever (DF), Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF), Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS) dynamics in a population in Thailand is discussed. Our model consists of seven non-linear differential equations. The standard dynamical analysis is used for analyzing the behavior for the transmission of dengue disease. Local existence r...

Integrated model for pricing, delivery time setting, and scheduling in make-to-order environments

Usually, in make-to-order environments which work only in response to the customer’s orders, manufacturers for maximizing the profits should offer the best price and delivery time for an order considering the existing capacity and the customer’s sensitivity to both the factors. In this paper, an integrated approach for pricing, delivery time setting and scheduling of new arrival orders are prop...
